Tony Jones and Doug Pagitt
Social Phonics is an adventure of friends and co-conspirators, Tony Jones and Doug Pagitt. Lifelong Minnesotans, we met in 1997, when we were both youth pastors in the suburbs of Minneapolis. Not long after that, we planned our first few events together. As the years passed, we realized that we got along well, and we fed off of each other’s energy. So we kept doing more stuff together until first JoPa Productions and then Social Phonics were formed. Here’s a bit more about us:
Tony Jones is a former pastor and has served as the executive director of two non-profits. He is the author of The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier and is theologian-in-residence at Solomon’s Porch in Minneapolis and an adjunct professor at Fuller Theological Seminary and at Andover Newton Theological School. He is the author of many books on Christian ministry and spirituality, including and The Sacred Way: Spiritual Practices for Everyday Life, and he is a sought after speaker and consultant in the areas of emerging church, postmodernism, and Christian spirituality. Tony has three children and lives in Edina, Minnesota.
Doug Pagitt is the pastor of Solomon’s Porch, a holistic, missional, Christian community in South Minneapolis. He’s also the author of many books, including Church in the Inventive Age and A Christianity Worth Believing and he hosts a weekly radio show in the Twin Cities, Doug Pagitt Radio: Religious Radio That’s Not Quite Right. Doug is known as one of the most innovative church leaders of this era, and he is often a speaker at colleges, seminaries, and conferences. Doug is married to Shelley; they have four children and reside in Edina, Minnesota.
